Making Bespoke Seed Hearts with Ashes
At Scattered Blooms, we offer a way of gifting the ashes of a loved one or beloved pet, to yourself, family or friends.
We sensitively create bespoke hand crafted seed hearts that are exquisitely packaged and personalised. Each keepsake box contains a set of 6 hearts, carefully nestled and cushioned on a bed of natural confetti.
Why choose a Flower Memorial?
A simply beautiful way to remember... a living memorial allows you to create a space for reflection and at the same time, supports our eco system and encourages biodiversity. Bringing new life in the form of beautiful flowers and of course the wide variety of insects and birds into the space.
Using ashes
What better way to use the cremation remains than to support new life with them. At Scattered Blooms we take the ashes you send and incorporate them directly into the seed hearts.

As soon as you place an order, we send out a care pack with everything you need to send us your ashes. At your own pace, please complete the details and place the ashes into the bag.

A maximum of 1 tea spoon of ashes is used in each set of 6 hearts. Therefore 6 boxes is 6 teaspoons, etc.
Creating the Seed Hearts
To begin, the ashes provided are mixed with the correct ratio of formulated soil. This is then added to a clay, seed and coffee ground mix.

Very gently water is added and then the mix is pressed into heart molds.
​
The clay helps the hearts stay together, the coffee is incorporated to help keep away pests and the formulated soil is to mitigate the effects of ashes.

A Beautiful Gift
After the hearts have fully dried, they are packaged up in our simple yet stunning, eco friendly packaging.

A simple band is added which can be personalised in any way you choose. Each box in your order can have a different band, so each recipient receives one that is bespoke to them.

Planting
You can choose when and where you plant or scatter the hearts you receive. However, for best results sow between March and October and expect a beautiful flower display each year between May and October
